In late 2015, a friend and I decided to start our own theatre company devoted to executing high-caliber productions that highlighted and elevated both of our various talents. My half of the company involves design and handling all of our finances. Since August 2016, we have put together 5 shows, each unique and ambitious in their own right.
Credits from Wanton Theatre: Cock (Mike Bartlett), The Stage: St Andrews Students Association, February 2017; Boys (Ella Hickson), 9 Alexandra Place, November 2016; Constellations (Nick Payne), The Stage: St Andrews Students Association, October 2016; A Beckett Trilogy, comprising of: Not I, Embers, and Rockaby (Samuel Beckett), The Barron Theatre, October 2016, 'Tis Pity She's a Whore (John Ford, ed: Ryan Hay), Paradise in Augustines, Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016
Technical Operations Officer, Mermaids: The University of St Andrews Performing Arts Fund, 2015-2017
In this role I oversaw all of the technicians assigned to the c. 30 plays put on by Mermaids each year, as well as maintaining health and safety regulations across the productions. For many I trained the technician and assisted at all rigging and get-in slots. I was also an integral member of the Mermaids Committee, involved in choosing which shows to fun each semester and in supporting all of those; helping them to be successful.
Deputy Barron Manager, The Barron Theatre Subcommittee, 2015-2017
The Barron Theatre is really special; it is one of two completely student-run theatres in the UK. As the Deputy Manager I was in charge of managing the Health and Safety of the theatre, making sure that everyone followed the guidelines set out, also handling much of the day to day running of the space.
Entertainment Space Manager, Ents Crew, 2016-2017
In this role, I helped a great deal with many live events and club nights, sitting in a Users Meeting to assist groups in figuring out what was required and possible for their events, from lighting to sound to projection, also assisting in deciding how to ensure the events ran safely and smoothly, often suggesting compromises that would make the user and building staff at the Student's Association happy. As Entertainment Space Manager, I was also the deputy Ents Convener and chaired all meetings that the Convener was unable to attend.
