UBU ROI

BYRE THEATRE, ST ANDREWS (April 2018)

My adaptation of Alfred Jarry's play Ubu Roi was staged by Mermaids Performing Arts Fund in April 2018, in an exciting multimedia performance with a live electronic score, hip-hop dance, and video art. Developing my text was an educational process, collaborating with the other creatives on the project to shape our work and processes around one another. The irreverent tone of Jarry's play, a scatological satire of power, allowed me to innovate stylistically and to be formally creative in shaping the piece for our audiences, showing them why I thought we should be telling this story in 2018.

This was my first full-length play, and the first to be performed in a professional venue.
Performances were 17 & 18 April 2018.
